In Loving Memory of Dwayne L. Free

Dwayne L. Free, age 71, passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2026.

Dwayne was born in Canton, Georgia, and was the son of the late Lautrell (Turner) Anderson and the late Ernest Free.

Dwayne proudly served 20 years in the United States Air Force. During his military career, he had the opportunity to serve a tour in Japan, an experience he truly cherished. He embraced the Japanese culture and made many lasting memories during his time there. As a disabled veteran, Dwayne served as a Space Systems Engineer and Remote Sensing Analyst in support of Nuclear Treaty Monitoring.

Following his military service, Dwayne continued his education. He attended Rollins College and earned a Bachelor's Degree, followed by a Master's Degree in Space and Science from Florida Tech.

Dwayne also continued the legacy of the Spalding All Sky Camera and created a non-profit foundation. Go Sky Sentinel uses a fisheye camera to detect Bolides, Fireballs and Meteors.

Dwayne had many interests and passions throughout his life. He was a proud member of the Porsche Club of America (PCA) and enjoyed spending time playing golf and shooting pool. Above all, Dwayne had a deep appreciation for music and could often be found enjoying his favorite songs.

Dwayne was preceded in death by his oldest brother, Derrick.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Nancy, with whom he shared 42 wonderful years of marriage; his children, Adam (Tiffany Watts) and Derek; and his grandchildren, Bella and Lilly. He is also survived by his siblings, Dusty (Deborah) and Dana; his nieces, Amanda, Madelyn, and Vivienne Robey; and Kylie and Patrick Free, along with extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

Dwayne will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his love of family, his many interests, and the memories he created with those who knew and loved him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life will be held on Dwayne's birthday, October 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at:

Crowne Plaza Melbourne Oceanfront 2605 N. Hwy A1A Melbourne, Florida

Military Honors will be presented during the service.

The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating Dwayne's life and honoring the man he was.
