Elaine Margaret Oakes, the youngest daughter of Kathryn Oakes and Carrol Oakes (deceased) of five children  was a woman whose life was defined by love, compassion, and an open heart. She raised two strong children, Jennifer Ann Mango and David Thomas Mango, instilling in them resilience, kindness, and strength.

She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Shyann Rachel Williams, Jennifer’s daughter, and Mykial Thomas Mango and Jordan Thomas Mango, David’s sons. Her grandchildren were a deep source of joy and purpose in her life.

Elaine knew love in many forms. She shared her first love with Thomas Mango, the father of her children and later found her divine love with David Morgan. Her heart was vast, and it extended not only to people but also to her beloved cat and constant companion, Minxie, her “twin.”

Elaine was a natural caregiver — a woman whose mission in life was to help and care for others. If you knew her, you knew she would do anything for you. She had a rare ability to see people in need and respond with action, even opening her home to families and offering safety and care without hesitation. She was also a foster mother to Jordan Blackburn, one of her son’s friends, loving him as her own.

She was like a rainbow — all the colors. Funny, smart, heartwarming, kind, beautiful, and deeply caring. Elaine was a light in the dark, even during times when she herself walked through darkness. Her warmth and generosity left an imprint on everyone she met.

Elaine Margaret Oakes will be remembered not only for the life she lived, but for the love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives were made brighter by her presence
