William “Bill” Webster

December 13, 1971 – September 26, 2026

William “Bill or Billy” Webster, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Bill shared 32 years of life and love with his wife, Tina. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, laughter, and making memories. Through every season, Bill showed remarkable strength, determination, and a gift for finding reasons to be grateful.

Above all else, Bill loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a father-in-law, and a proud grandfather to his two grandchildren. Some of their most treasured memories are of time spent together laughing, traveling, and often being on the receiving end of one of Bill’s pranks.

Bill had a lifelong passion for classic cars and motorcycles. He loved restoring them, appreciated their history and craftsmanship, and took great pride in bringing something back to life.

Bill also took great pride in his career. He began working in municipal government at just 17 years old and spent more than 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He truly loved running equipment, becoming one of the area’s most skilled operators of a unique German-built walking excavator. His expertise led to appearances in the manufacturer’s training video and recognition in news articles highlighting his skills.

In 1998, Bill was diagnosed with von Hippel-Lindau (VHL), a rare genetic condition that affected generations of his family and took the lives of many people he loved. His diagnosis began a journey that would span more than 27 years.

Bill became part of a research program at the National Institutes of Health specializing in VHL. Over the years, he underwent annual testing, ongoing monitoring, and major surgeries to manage the effects of the disease. Eventually, his journey led to a long battle with metastatic renal cell carcinoma, which affected nearly every part of his body. Yet Bill never wanted to be defined by VHL or cancer. His illness may have been part of his story, but it was never the whole story. Instead, he focused on the life he was still able to live and the people he met along the way.

Those who knew Bill will especially remember his sense of humor and love of a good prank. If Bill cared about you, there was a good chance you had been pranked at least once and probably more than once. The laughter and stories from those moments will remain treasured memories for those who loved him.

Bill’s faith was an important part of his life and a source of strength throughout his journey. While his family grieves the tremendous loss of his presence here, they find comfort in knowing that his long battle is over, his body is no longer suffering, and he is at peace in the presence of his Lord.

For more than three years, Bill and his family were blessed with the compassionate support of his hospice care team. Bill’s complex medical needs rarely followed a typical path, and many of the challenges associated with his disease were unfamiliar even to experienced caregivers. His hospice team took the time to understand Bill, listen to his family, adapt to his unique needs, and advocate for his comfort and care. They walked alongside Bill and his family through some of their most difficult days,

and their compassion, dedication, and willingness to fight for what he needed will always be remembered with profound gratitude.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. He experienced loss early in life, losing his mother and father before age 25. In the years that followed, Tina’s mother, Susan Wesley, became a constant and loving presence in his life and held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his wife, Tina; daughter, Sierra Henry (JeVaughn); and two grandchildren, Bill is survived by his sister, Jinelle Naylor (Jimmy); niece, Cassie; nephew, James; aunt, Roxan Reynolds (James); uncle, Steve Ailleo (Valerie); many cousins; and extended family members and friends whose lives he touched.
