David Ahern

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David Ahern, 80, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on July 17, 2026. David was born on October 19, 1945, in Troy, NY, to the late Francis and Irene (Markham) Ahern.

David graduated from Murray State College and worked for NYS (OSC) Department of Audit and Control for almost 30 years, retiring in 1998. He married Adaleda (Bird) on August 31, 1968. David loved to golf, was an avid reader, loved watching the wildlife from his back porch, and was actively involved in the Greater Palm Bay senior activity center, playing cards weekly. Most of all, he loved spending time with friends and family. His greatest pleasure in life was sharing time with his six grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Adaleda; his children, Karen Foster (Paul) and Marcy Hoyt; his grandchildren, Mickala (Damian), Allyssa, Nathaniel, Paige, Phoebe, and Milo. A great-grandchild, Scarlett June, is due in August. His siblings, Mary Jo Ahern-Pleat, Mark Ahern, and Bill Ahern, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Aileen Sentiwany.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer's Association .
