James (Pete) Peters

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of James Herbert Peters on April 2, 2026.

Born on July 7, 1939, to Jacob A. Peters Sr. and Marguerite Peters in Roanoke, Virginia, James (Pete) lived a full life of kindness, strength and love.

He was known for his positive outlook, giving spirit and great love of God. He was kind to everyone he met and very much enjoyed helping others.

He is lovingly remembered and will be truly missed by all of his family and friends. He was a true family man who shared an amazing 63 years with his wife, Linda Sue Peters (Cunningham). Together they raised two children, Sean Michael Peters and Tracy Dawn Gruber (Peters). Sean and Tracy’s spouses, Sandra Peters and Eric Gruber, were so very loved by Pete. Pete is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Courtney Berner (Eric), Quentin Peters (Spencer) and Zachary Gruber, as well as great granddaughter, Autumn Anne Gruber and one on the way, Lenora Berner.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Jacob Peters Sr. and Marguerite Peters), and his 9 siblings and his grandson, Adam Gruber.

A memorial service honoring Pete’s life will be held on April 25, 2026 at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 950 Malabar Rd. SE Palm Bay, FL from 10 am – 12 pm, and his remains will be laid to rest on April 27, 2026 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery with military sendoff, recognizing his 20 year career in the United States Air Force.

His legacy of faith and love will continue to shine through the lives he touched.
