Murray Dennis Delauter

January 19, 1940 — March 5, 2026

Murray Delauter was born in Hagerstown, Maryland to parents Leonard and Dorothy Delauter. After graduating from high school as a basketball standout, he served four years in the United States Air Force. He then embarked on a 36-year career with United Airlines that started in Newport News, Virginia but ultimately took him across the country to stops in Washington Dulles, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Patrick Air Force Base, and Orlando, where he retired as a Service Director.

Murray was very involved with activities for his children, including Indian Guides, baseball, basketball, and coaching football. He founded multiple little league organizations, including The Slidell Bantam Baseball Association (for which he received the key to the city of Slidell, Louisiana) and The Palm Bay Athletic Association.

Murray was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and then an active member of the Azan Shriners in Melbourne, Florida, where he served on the Director’s Staff. He spent his last years volunteering for Florida elections and United States Military Honor flights, which he was able to attend in person.

Murray is survived by his spouse of 55 years, Caroline Delauter, four children (Jeff, April, Linwood, and Brian), five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
