Rodney "Rod" Dale Inman

1953–2026

Rodney "Rod" Dale Inman, 73, of Palm Bay, Florida, passed away on August 28, 2026, at William Childs Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Quincy, Illinois, in 1953, Rod built a life centered on family, friendship, hard work, and helping others.

A handyman by trade, Rod loved fixing things and teaching his children to be self-sufficient. His lessons will live on whenever they face something broken and think, Dad would know how to fix this.

But Rod's greatest gift was his heart. He loved people, made friends wherever he went, and was always ready to lend a hand. His wicked sense of humor brought laughter to everyone around him.

WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

Rod loved his family, the Washington Commanders, playing cards, sweets, lemonade, root beer, cold coffee, Sudoku, Jeopardy!, and Wheel of Fortune. He also had a tender heart for animals, especially his beloved kitty, Poncho. His family finds comfort imagining Poncho was there to greet him—though Poncho may have acted as if Rod were the one who had kept him waiting.

Rod was deeply patriotic and lived by the values of hard work, kindness, loyalty, and being someone others could count on.

Above all, Rod loved his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Bonita Inman; his son, Milton Clark, and Milton's wife, Tiffany, and their sons, Gavin and Wyatt; and his daughter, Amanda Mattern, and her husband, Ryan. He also leaves behind Amanda's best friend, Laura Spivey, and Milton's best friend, Rod Nance, who were like family to him. Rod became a second father to many of his children's friends, offering guidance, laughter, and a welcoming place to belong.

Rod was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Donna Inman; his in-laws, William and Gloria Tolley; and many beloved pets, including Poncho.

Seventy-three years was not nearly enough, but Rod leaves behind a family who knew how deeply they were loved, friends whose lives were brighter because of him, and countless memories filled with laughter and love.

Somewhere, we hope Rod is laughing, Poncho is nearby, nothing needs fixing, and the coffee temperature is just right.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rod's memory to William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida, in gratitude for the care and compassion shown to him and his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Rod's honor at a later date. Details will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.
