Janet Gingras Kenaston

Jul 2, 1934 — Jun 7, 2026

Janet Gingras Kenaston, 91, of Cocoa, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026. Born in Belleville, Illinois to George and Mildred Gingras of Rockledge, Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 53 years, Robert Allen Kenaston, her youngest son, Scott Kenaston, her brother in-law, Dr. Thomas Kenaston, her sister in-law, Marianne Kenaston, and her brother, Julian Gingras.

She grew up in Cocoa, and graduated from Cocoa High. She later attended nursing school in New Orleans, where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. For many years she was very active with St Mark’s Church and the Junior Service League. Janet owned two shops in Cocoa Village, "Janet's Village Nook" and later "Something Personal". At home, she loved the company of her various dogs and taking care of her plants. She is most known for her memorable giggle -- those who knew her well, can still hear it! Among her most favorite pastimes, she was a founding member of the "Margarita Girls" and loved to gather with several of her best friends, first at St Mark’s Tuesday evening service and then off to test the various margarita recipes at several restaurants in the area. She said their favorite was from our local restaurant, Chaparral.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Kenaston, Jr (Elizabeth), of Cocoa, David Kenaston (Vicki), of Birmingham, Alabama, along with grandchildren Michael (Chrissie) and Brett (Lisa) Kenaston, Stephanie Murphy (Kevin), and Danielle Berquist (Paul). She is also survived by great-grandchildren Kelly, Clayton, Ava and Harper, step-grandchildren Amber Serrano Maldonado (JayJay) and Shennen Martin (Zach), as well as step-great grandchildren Zach, Zaidin, Zavion and Isaiah, Jordan and Isabella, her brother in-law, James Kenaston and his wife, Jeanne, several nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 8 at 2 pm at St Mark's Episcopal Church in Cocoa. Reception to follow in Thursby Hall at the church immediately after the service. Pink was far and away her favorite color, so please consider wearing some pink in her honor!

Donations can be made to any of her favorite charities: Alzheimer Foundation, Tunnel2Towers and the Humane Society.
