Angela Jean Schaefer

Sep 21, 1972 — Sep 28, 2026

Angela Jean “Angie” Schaefer, age 54, of Saint Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026.

Born in Saint Petersburg on September 21, 1972, Angie lived a life defined by her love for her family, her dedication to her work, and the many little things that brought her happiness.

Angie dedicated 22 years of her life to serving as a Director for the Catholic Diocese. She was a hardworking and determined woman who took great pride in providing for and supporting her family and serving her community. She was also pursuing her Associate of Arts degree and had once planned to attend St. Petersburg College to study Criminology. Angie attended Dixie M. Hollins High School before ultimately choosing a different path in life.

Above all else, Angie was a mother and wife who cherished her family. She loved being involved in her children's lives and was incredibly proud of their accomplishments. Her oldest daughter, Kayla Faye Paradis, joined the Air National Guard. Her son, Christopher Ryan Peterson, became a paramedic. Her youngest daughter, Victoria Faith Peterson, became a dental assistant and was continuing her education to become a dental hygienist. Hearing about her children's accomplishments brought Angie tremendous joy and pride.

Angie is survived by her loving husband, Michael Thomas Schaefer, and her three children, Kayla Faye Paradis, Christopher Ryan Peterson, and Victoria Faith Peterson, and grandson, Cameron Clark. She leaves behind her parents, Lawrence Eugene Barnes Sr. and Alice Harper Barnes and her beloved sisters, Cyndi Barnes and Deborah Fasciano, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her older and only brother, Larry Barnes Jr., affectionately known as “Little Larry.”

Angie had a special love for animals, especially her four beloved cats: Snickers, Daisey "Little One", Marble, and Felicity. She loved relaxing at home and watching "Friends", and she could appreciate the simple comforts of everyday life.

She loved going to the beach, swimming in the pool, playing pool, and golfing. Angie and Mike enjoyed traveling often to Las Vegas, Key West, and Gatlinburg,TN together, making a lifetime of memories.  She cherished the time she spent with loved ones. She was also an avid Bucs fan. She enjoyed drinking her favorite Dunkin’ French Vanilla coffee, and keeping her home spotless—a true clean freak who took pride in her surroundings.

Angie loved flowers of every kind, but roses were especially dear to her. She enjoyed watching, and supervising Mike as he decorated their home for the holidays, making sure every detail was perfect, especially Christmas and Halloween, creating a home that felt warm, festive, and welcoming.

Music held a special place in Angie's heart. She loved Prince, Elvis Presley, and Michael Jackson, and several songs became especially meaningful because of the people she shared them with. “Purple Rain” by Prince was special to Angie and her daughter Victoria. “Here Without You” by 3 Doors Down was a special song connected to her son Chris. And “Lips of an Angel” by Hinder was special to Angie and her husband, Mike.

Angie shared a deep and loving relationship with her husband, Michael for 17 years. She loved him very much, and the life and memories they created together will remain a cherished part of her family's hearts.

Angie will be remembered for her determination, her strong work ethic, her love for her children and husband, her devotion to her family, her love of animals, music, flowers, holidays, travel, and the comforts of home. Most of all, she will be remembered as someone who took great pride in the people she loved and their accomplishments.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved her, the memories she created will continue to live on through her family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Angie's life will be held at Anderson-McQueen, followed by burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The date and time of services will be announced once arrangements have been finalized.

In lieu of flowers, Angie would have appreciated donations made in her memory to the SPCA or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Rest peacefully, Angie. You were loved deeply, you made a difference, and you will never be forgotten
