Inez D. Spake

Inez Spake passed on 5-2-26 in St Petersburg, Florida at the age of 89. She was born in Alliance, Ohio where she spent her early years and became a dance teacher for a local studio. Her love for dance led to joining several dance troupes and traveled the county performing at Dinner Show Clubs. One of those clubs was "The Capri" on Clearwater Beach where she met William Spake. He was the manager and she helped him with closing out the night receipts. Their friendship grew to love and then a long-distance relationship due to her contracts. On 10-11-1958 they were married and moved to St Petersburg first then Lake Wales, Lakeland and back to St Petersburg permanently. They bought a home In Holiday Park Country Club and lived they for over 60 years.


Inez worked at Maas Brothers Downtown before joining JC Penney and opened the new store at Tyrone Square Mall location. Retired with 29 years and more time for family, more cruises and ballroom dancing. She went on over 50 cruises with family, dance groups and danced at numerous ballroom studios in the area. She belonged to La Sertoma, volunteered with Salvation Army, Girl Scouts and our schools.


Her favorite place was Walt Disney World. We went there since 1971 numerous times a year. They did a 26-day Disney cruise and then we did a family cruise. Loved going out west to visit family also.


Inez was known for her warm smile, joyful spirit, and signature dance pose in photographs. She was a loving Mom, grandmother, cousin, aunt, friend and will be missed by all.


She is survived by Daughter Patricia Stahlgren (Mark), Son Patrick Spake (Sandy), Grandchildren Dalton Spake (Zoe), Danielle Spake, Hunter Spake (Julia). Bob Spake -brother-in-law, Retha Spake- sister-in- law and beloved cousins with numerous nieces and nephews.


Celebration of life is June-12-26 from 5-8 PM at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home at 7820 38th Ave N St Pete.
