Roberta Koning

Roberta “Bobby Lou” Chiles Koning, 99, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2026. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on September 16, 1927, Roberta made St. Petersburg, Florida, her home beginning in 1973, where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Roberta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William C. Koning. She is survived by her children, Becky Wardell and Dale F. Koning, both of St. Petersburg.Roberta had a lifelong love of children and music.

 She was an active member of her local church, where she served as a piano and organist and as a part-time choir director. Her love of music and her dedication to children were important parts of her life and brought joy to many around her.

Roberta earned her Associate of Arts degree from St. Petersburg Junior College. Throughout her career, she worked as a preschool teacher and secretary, bringing her caring nature and warm spirit to all she encountered.Roberta will be remembered for her love of family, children, music, and her church, as well as for the kindness and joy she shared with those around her.
