Beverly Brown Webber
May 27, 1918 — May 28, 2007
Webber, Beverly Brown, ?Bev?, 89, of St. Petersburg, died Monday May 28, 2007 at Northside Hospital and Heart Institute. Born in Montreal, Canada, on May 27, 1918 she moved to St. Petersburg in 1926 from her native city with her Mother, Father and three sisters. She attended Euclid and then went on to graduate from St. Petersburg High School in 1935 where she was president of the Drama Department and Homecoming Queen. After graduation she was seen in many lead roles for the St. Petersburg Little Theatre. After graduating high school she also attended Business School and began working as a legal stenographer for one of the State Congressmen. While working in the legal profession, she met and married Robert McKinney Barton, who was a prominent attorney in early downtown St. Petersburg. Two years after Robert?s death in 1957, she was lucky enough to marry John Mercer Brown, one of the family owners of the Suwannee Hotel in Downtown St. Petersburg. She once again became a ?Very Fortunate Lady? to marry Abbott Webber, after Mr. Brown?s death. She was a graduate of Eckerd College at the age of 68, with honors which her family remembers as one of her proudest moments. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church, President of Women?s Service League, and Life Member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Survivors include her husband of 14 years, Abbott, a daughter, Bobbi Brown Wise, two sisters, Joyce Collier, and Connie Gallagan, all of St. Petersburg, three grandchildren: Lisa Smith McDonald, Mercer Scott Smith, and Douglas James Wise all of St. Petersburg, and two great grandchildren: Chloe Elizabeth McDonald and Macey Margaret McDonald, both of St. Petersburg.
