British Antoinette Dancy

Nov 25, 1970 — Jul 21, 2015

British Dancy, 44 of St. Petersburg, FL passed on July 21, 2015 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center South Pinellas. She was proud to be a resident of St. Petersburg and loved the area greatly. British Antoinette Dancy was born to the late Beverly Barton and Robert Dancy on November 25, 1970 in Chicago, IL. British worked as a Fraud Investigator. British accepted Christ at an early age and attended Golden Rule as a child under the leadership of Rev. Sullivan. Later on, British traveled a long journey and sought out the Buddhist faith which is where she remained for over 12 years. During British's short life, she was able to achieve many accomplishments such as becoming a member of O.E.S. (St. Paul Dorcas Chapter); being appointed as a Special Advocate through the Pinellas County Court for CASA; volunteering for the Cook County Juvenile System; spending her time as a Domestic Violence Advocate for the 2nd District of the Chicago Police Department, along with volunteering for the YWCA and becoming a member of C.A.P.S. She was also a member of SOKA GAKKAI International and participated in volunteer work for the City Council in Chicago. British attended Senn High School where she later received her GED. She then found the time to graduate from Saint Leo University with her B.A. in Criminal Justice. British was loved by everyone she came into contact with. She was a peace advocate, humanitarian and a well-grounded and special human being. Those that knew her would say that she was a hard-working, selfless human being who cared more about the well-being of others than she did herself. She was full of life and was truly a unique individual in every sense. She had a great admiration for hip-hop music, loved the color red and had such a flare for life. British is survived by her loving significant other of ten years, Demetrius T. Johnson; two daughters, Brittany M. Dancy and Ashley A. Lacombe; son, Tommy J. Mason; five sisters, Carla M. Williams, Tonesia P. Ester, Tammy J. Williams, Marie Mayfield-Lajoice, Dinieta Barton; four brothers, John Campbell, Norman Barton Jr., Robert Barnes and Robert Harvey; granddaughter, Adriella L. Hernandez; two grandsons, Julian F. Lacombe and Jayden Douse. British Dancy also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
