Daniel E. Giller

Daniel E. Giller, 85, of St. Petersburg passed away at home on June 4, 2026 in the loving company of his family. He is survived by his wife Ursula, his daughter Claudia, his son Marc, and his grandchildren Zach, Renee, Christian, and Lexie.

 Born in Traverse City, Michigan, Dan joined the United States Air Force after graduating high school, during which time he served in duty stations all around the world. While stationed in Germany, he met the woman who would soon become his wife, beginning a journey together that would last for the next sixty years. 

Retiring in 1979 with the rank of master sergeant, Dan returned with Ursula to their beloved state of Florida, where both of their children were born, to make their permanent home. He attended Tampa College and graduated from there with a bachelor’s degree in business, after which he formed his own video production company and created highlights videos for the Los Angeles Dodgers fantasy camps in Vero Beach. 

Dan loved to travel, especially on cruises, and with Ursula sailed away to many corners of the globe. He also loved his grandchildren dearly, and never missed a chance to pick them up from school or take them on whatever adventures came their way. To his own children he was a role model and a steady presence, always making them feel cherished and loved, parenting with a sense of humor that still makes them smile to this day.

 Dan’s celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 20th at 1pm, held at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK Jr. Street North in St. Petersburg
