David H. Eichinger

David H. Eichinger, 80, passed away early in the morning on September 8th, 2025 in Pinellas Park, Florida. David was born in Bay City, Michigan, on August 27th, 1945 to Arnold and Marie (Neitzke) Eichinger. He is survived by his wife Carol (Ludford) Eichinger, his daughter Sarah Beth Eichinger Krieger of St. Pete. Beach, Florida, his son Rev. Eric Eichinger (Kara) of Anaheim, California, his daughter Brenda Christine Eichinger Letellier (Paul) of Tampa, Florida, his grandchildren Kameron, Luisa, Seth Krieger, Elsie, Lukas, Isaak Eichinger, Benjamin and Sean Letellier. He is also survived by his sister Martha Eichinger Kohn of Royal Oak, Michigan and his brother-in-law Terry (Beth) Ludford of Williamsburg, Michigan, plus nieces and nephews and many dear cousins. 

David was a graduate of Michigan State University in 1967 and then served as a Navy hospital corpsman with the Marines in Vietnam. He was wounded in the Tet Offensive and received a Purple Heart. After his military discharge, he married Carol in 1969 in Hope Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan. They moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1970 where David received a master's degree from Western Michigan University. He worked for many years as a personnel manager in manufacturing in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, Michigan and later in security at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida which delighted his grandchildren. He was involved in Toastmasters and the Optimist Club in Kalamazoo and with the Gideons Society in Orange County, Florida.

David was baptized and confirmed in his faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bay City, Michigan. He continued in his deep faith in Jesus Christ throughout his life. He with his family was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and in his later years at Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, Florida. After over a decade of his decline from Alzheimer's disease, David had found peace in his heavenly home. In his last days he folded his hands as his family prayed with him. David knew he was loved by the family and his Savior. 

A service and celebration of life for David will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 27th at 11:00 a.m. with interment at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
