Donnae Rae Cope, 85 of Largo, Florida passed away at Palm Garden on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025 after a short battle with cancer.
She was born in Weirton, West Virginia on November 22nd, 1939 to Charles Raymond Gladwell and Roberta Hazel Gladwell. She was an only child and grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida. She attended many public schools in Southern Pinellas County, Florida and was a member of the PTA, active in Girl and Boy Scout organizations including working for the Boy Scout Council.
In May 1958 she married Alfred L. Cope in Pinellas County and spent her life dedicating herself as a devoted wife and loving mother raising four children. She was active in multiple sewing and quilting guilds and made custom personalized quilts for all family members and loved ones.
Her beloved congregation was at Fairview Baptist Church in Athens, Alabama. Her dedication for the church continued as she viewed services online from Florida.
She is predeceased by her husband, Alfred L. Cope; daughter, Melissa Cope; parents Charles and Roberta Gladwell; and Libby, her sweet yellow lab. She is survived by her children Lea Weber (Bernd), Linnie Stelk (Steve), Sam Cope, Alfred Cope II (Nancy); grandchildren Steven Stelk (Karina), Nick Weber(Vanessa), Matt Weber, Chris Weber, Amanda West, Aaron West (Laura), Caitlyn Cope, Ben Cope, Abby Cope; Great-Grandchildren Lucian Stelk, Jackson Stelk, Evalyn Stelk, Chloe Weber, Brooks Weber, Jeremy West, Leon West; and many other beloved nephews, nieces, in-laws, and friends.
A visitation will be held at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home on Tuesday November 25th from 10:00am-11:00am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00am. Interment will be held immediately following services at Sunnyside Cemetery.
