James Munn King
February 4, 1937 — May 23, 2026
James Munn King, 89, passed peacefully at his home in St. Petersburg, FL on May 23, 2026. He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Mary Lee King and a daughter, Mary E. King of Sarasota, FL.
He was a 3rd generation Floridian, who lived in St. Petersburg his entire life. He served on numerous local and county boards. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and the St. Petersburg Exchange Club, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Florida Engineering Society, the Tampa Bay Society of Professional Land Surveyors and Woodlawn Presbyterian Church.
He graduated from St. Petersburg High School and the University of Florida where he received a degree in Civil Engineering. He was certified in both Civil Engineering, as well as in Mapping and Surveying.
He worked for 25 years with the firm of C. Fred Deuel & Associates. He then worked with George F. Young, Inc., serving as Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors. He retired in 2024 after completing a 64 year career.
He had a great love of travel, collecting old cars and brass tools.
