Biesinger, John William III, 76, of Tierra Verde passed away at home, August 27, 2026. A native of Blairsville, Pennsylvania, he graduated from Blairsville High School in 1967, The Pennsylvania State University, BA, Speech Communications in 1971, and earned his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law in 1978. He joined the United States Army in 1972, was stationed at Homestead Air Force Base, Missile Defense Systems, and was named Soldier of the Year in 1973.
He began his career at The Law Offices of Pope & Henninger, St. Petersburg, became partner at Robinson, Steagall, Grant, Silvers, Biesinger, and Dikman, and later, Grant & Biesinger. John’s decades of legal expertise and knowledge were respected by many, including the financial sector, culminating in senior positions at Wells Fargo Private Bank, and Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Raymond James Trust Private Wealth Management. He was elected President of the St. Petersburg Bar Association in 2010. His leadership extended to numerous boards and programs including All Children’s Hospital, Stetson Elder Law Program, The Florida Bar, CASA, The St. Petersburg Bar, Florida Attorney General New Motor Vehicle Arbitration Board, and the South Pasadena Fire Department, first as a volunteer firefighter during law school, and later as pension board attorney and Vice President.
Outside of work, John’s love of sports car racing in high school developed into a professional position as Race Official with IMSA, Grand American Road Racing, and Professional Sports Car Racing. He was in the pace car or on the starter stand at the 24 Hours of Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, West Palm and Miami Grand Prix races, Road Atlanta, and the World Challenge of Tampa Camel Grand Prix in 1989. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club for 30 years. He loved working outdoors, reading, family gatherings, grilling, and Georgia. He especially enjoyed Judge David Seth Walker’s “Bubba Buddies” outing to North Carolina, the Tierra Verde Men’s Card Group, and traveling worldwide with his wife Nancy.
John is predeceased by his parents, Jane and John Biesinger. He is survived by his wife Nancy, sisters Joy Fairbanks (Bob) and Bonnie Casper (Ron), brother-in-law Daniel Kostreva (Casey), in addition to several beloved nieces and nephews (Ben, Bonnie, Jonathan, Allison, Evan, Amanda, Liza, and Mary Rachel).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Anderson McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. MLK St. N., St. Petersburg, FL 33704, Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at SPYC.
