Kaia Butter

Butter, Dorisclaire "Kaia" 92, of St. Petersburg, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009. A resident of St. Petersburg from 1950 - 1974, she returned to St. Petersburg in 2006 after having lived in her hometown of Minneapolis, MN in the intervening years. Following a career in acting and theater, including one-woman shows, she maintained an active interest in music and the arts throughout her life. She had a love of life, joy in entertaining, boundless love of family, and a deep and abiding faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John R. Butter, a prominent surgeon in St. Petersburg and the founding Chief of Staff of Palms of Pasadena Hospital, and her son, John R. Butter. She is survived by her children, Peter Butter of Chaska, MN and Beret Moyer of Chevy Chase, MD; sister, Muriel Bigalli of St. Petersburg, FL; nieces, Dorian Ulrich of St. Petersburg, FL, Grieg Vanlandingham of Kingsport, TN, and Anna Burgett of St. Petersburg, FL; nephew, Richard Washburn of Jenisen, MI; grandchildren, Brownen Newcott of Costa Mesa, CA, Max Moyer of Reston, VA, Eli Moyer, Kaia Joye Moyer of Catalina Island, CA, Rebekah Grathwol of St. Paul, MN, and Rachel Hipps of Chattanooga, TN; and 6 great-grandchildren, Ella Blue, Finn, Silas, Eden Joye, Isabelle, and McKeon. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 6:30 PM at Westminster Shores, 125 56th Ave. S. with interment on Monday, June 22, 2009 at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
