Kenneth R. Carr

Carr, Kenneth R., 92, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday, January 26th, 2002. He was born in Glasgow, KY and came here in 1950 from Tampa, where he had been a resident since 1921 and was a 1928 graduate of Hillsborough High School. He was a 1933 graduate of the University of Florida as an Electrical Engineer. He worked for Florida Power and Light until the war began, and then he was recruited by Glenn-Martin Aircraft to work in airplane electrical designs. After the war, he returned to Tampa to resume his career at Tampa Electric. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1950 and with his brothers owned Tropical Grocery Company, which later became known as Carr Brothers. He was a founding member of North East Park Baptist Church. He is survived by 1 son, James K. Carr of Tampa; 1 daughter, Catherine Mary Schandle of St. Petersburg; 1 brother, R. Frisbie Carr of St. Petersburg; 1 sister, Eleanor Sparrowhawk of Brandon; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
