Susan Mary Ugan

Susan “Sue” Ugan, 86, of St. Petersburg, passed away peacefully at home on June 1, 2026. Born in Indiana and raised in Chicago, she was a proud graduate of Trinity High School and Rosary College.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henrietta and Harry Behrmann; her brother, Harry Behrmann, Jr.; and her husband, Chester Ugan.

Sue is lovingly remembered by her siblings, Arthur Behrmann (Barbara) and Trudy Behrmann; her children, Robert Ugan, David Ugan (Miriam Smith), and Karen Hanes; and her cherished grandchildren, Cameron, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Harrison.

Her career began in teaching and she later became a court appointed legal guardian. She supported families through challenging times with compassion and integrity. She earned deep respect within the legal community for her commitment and care.

Sue was also a devoted member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church for more than 40 years. She served as President of the Council of Catholic Women (C.C.W.) and was a member of the Praise Band for over two decades. Her faith was evident through her many volunteer efforts, including service with St. Vincent de Paul, a local women’s shelter, various Catholic committees, Bible study groups, and the parish school.

She took great pride in her grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. Sue had a love for adventure and travel, exploring many parts of the world with dear friends. Known as a compassionate listener and someone always ready to help at a moment’s notice, she was often described as a “saint on earth.”

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
