With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of a devoted husband, cherished family member, and dear friend, Vito A. Porpora, who left us on April 13, 2026 at the age of 93.

Vito was born to Gelsomina and Alexander Porpora on St. Patrick’s Day 1933 in Brooklyn, NY the youngest of three children. He lived a life marked by integrity, kindness, and a friend to many.

As a husband, Vito was unwavering in his support, compassion, and love for his wife of 35 years. They shared a life filled with memories that will be treasured always.

He is remembered for the way he made others feel welcome and valued. Whether through his work or his passions for teaching others whether it was how the stock market worked or how to be physically fit, or for growing beautiful orchids. Vito left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He was a proud member of the United States Air Force having served for 20 years and received special presidential commendation for his role during the Russian Missile Crisis.

Vito is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Harris; children/stepchildren Vincent Porpora (Jana), Beatrice Gregg (Steve), Genevieve Myers (Mack), Scott Harris, Mark Harris (Gamza); grandchildren Alexandra, Delaney, Connor, Matthew, Jessica, Meghan; and four great grandchildren; as well as the many friends who will miss him dearly.

A service to honor and celebrate Vito’s life will be held on April 28, 2026 at Bay Pines Cemetery at 2:30 PM with reception following.

Though he is no longer with us in person, Vito’s love, guidance, and spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
