Christina Eblen

Jun 15, 1959 — Dec 10, 2011

Christina M. “Tina” Eblen, 52, passed away suddenly on December 10, 2011 at University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. She will be missed by all of her family and many friends. She was born June 15, 1959 in San Mateo CA., a daughter of Thomas and the late Joan Eblen. She was born with a developmental disability; rather than institutionalizing her as doctors suggested, Tom and Joanie raised her themselves despite the lack of support services in that day. Tina received her High School diploma in 1981. Tina was employed by the Beacon Foundation performing hotel housekeeping duties. Tina loved her family and cared deeply for her friends. She actively participated in group outings, enjoyed bowling, crafted hook rugs and liked to work word search puzzles; she regularly participated in the Special Olympics, winning several medals and attended St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. Tina’s memory was remarkable; she could remember phone numbers from various places she lived and remembered the numerous family birthdays. A generous soul, she enjoyed baking cookies and sharing them with friends and family during the holidays. She is survived by her father, Thomas Eblen; two brothers, Cristobal (Betty) and Andrew (Julie) Eblen; two sisters, Lee (Steve) Hemphill and Virginia (Mike) Polenick; four nieces and five nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on saturday, January 7 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Recreation Room in the Fox Point Apartments, 3700 N Campbell Road, Tucson AZ. 85719 The family wishes to thank John Vasquez, Rick Stutsman and the staff from CPES for their help and support over the years.
