Collin Mumme'

Jan 18, 1995 — Jul 31, 2017

Collin Scott Mummé was born in Tucson, Arizona on January 18, 1995 and left us on July 31, 2017 in his much loved studio apartment with his cherished guinea pig, “Zeus”, at his side. Collin was three classes away from graduating with two Associate of Arts degrees; one in Psychology and one in Liberal Arts. His plan was to transfer to the University of Arizona in the fall of 2018. Ultimately, Collin wanted to become a Psychologist working with violent offenders in prison. He was eager to gain some work experience in that area and mentioned just last week that he was going to pursue certification to become a volunteer at Amity Circle Tree Ranch facilitating Alternative- to-Violence Workshops. For the past year, Collin worked part-time at “Ross Dress for Less” on Campbell Avenue. His manager said that Collin’s “phenomenal energy and willingness to accept a challenge is the reason that the store is currently ranked #1 in Arizona”. He also added that Collin’s catch phrase “have a blessed day” could light up a room. Collin loved his job so much that a friend of his jokingly suggested Ross as a place for Collin's funeral service! He began to SCUBA dive at the age of 10 and was very proud of the additional certifications he earned: Advanced Open Water, Night Diving, and especially Fish Identification. Collin continued to love skateboarding and hurling himself off loading docks and walls regardless of his already-damaged back. Collin enjoyed off-roading and hunting with his friends and his dad, but his true passion was skiing. From the age of three, Collin would excitedly count the days before the next annual family ski trip to Snowmass, Colorado. He said that he enjoyed “how loud the quiet is and the adrenaline rush of catapulting straight down a black diamond.” Collin’s life experiences included extensive travel with his family; he lived in Japan from age 3 ½ to 5 ½ (and was fluent in Japanese at that time!), visited India, Singapore, Korea, Saipan, Belize, The Bahamas, Canada and Mexico. Collin’s funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 8th, at the Angel Valley Funeral Home, 2545 North Tucson Boulevard. If you would like to see Collin, his casket will be open from 4 to 5 PM. During the short service which begins at 5 PM, there will be time to share stories and memories of Collin. Robert and Cary will cherish and be extremely grateful for each and every story. At 6 PM, there will be a catered dinner at Northminster Presbyterian Church located a mile away from the funeral home on the corner of Tucson Boulevard and Fort Lowell Road, 2450 East Fort Lowell Road. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Collin’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Amity Circle Tree Ranch, www.CircleTreeRanch.org , click on donations, or to go directly to the donation page click here: Dragonfly Village.
