Hector Gonzalez
May 9, 1939 — Jun 28, 2016
Hector Gregorio Gonzalez was born May 9, 1939 in Premont, Tx to Fulgencio and Maria Gonzalez and passed away peacefully on June 28, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeri Adams-Gonzalez; four adult children Maria, Theresa, Gregory and Rolando; and six grandchildren.
Hector served Honorably in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961 as a machine gunner and paratrooper. He served time in Vietnam prior to official engagement in hostilities there. After the Army, Hector was hired by Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Burns Harbor Plant as one of their first employees at that site. He helped build that plant, then continued to work there, leading and managing his crew for 36 years.
When he retired, Hector and his wife, Jeri relocated to Hereford, Arizona. Hector was always involved in community activities. He even got to announce at the Little League World Series one year. Hector was a long time member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. He routinely participated in Ritual Competitions, winning frequently. He proudly served as Governor in that organization.
After moving to Arizona, Hector became enamored with the Wild West. He loved researching the history of this area, often immersing himself in it fully. Hector loved to frequent the establishment of "Nick's" in Nicksville so much that he was declared "Mayor" of Nicksville by local residents. He was a very giving and happy man who loved his wife and family very much.
