Helen Murolo
May 22, 1932 — May 18, 2017
Helen P. Murolo born May 22, 1932 passed peacefully in her home in Tucson AZ on May 18 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Peter Murolo. Peter spent 22 years in the Air Force during which time they brought up 5 children three of whom, Debbie, Fay and Tim, unfortunately preceded her in death as well. Helen is survived by her sister Dorothy Sena, son Joseph and daughter Roberta. She was blessed with too many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews to list all of whom she loved dearly.
While at various Air Force Bases she was better known as Miss Helen at the Officers Clubs. Helen was a professional chef and cooked for officers, celebrities (including Bob Hope) and dignitaries including several presidents. In fact one of the presidents she served asked for her recipe and was told “no sir Mr President I don’t share my recipes”. She was so well know for her wonderful cooking visiting officers would specifically ask for “Miss Helen’s” cooking. Holidays would find Helen and her crew early in the base kitchens to make sure that those who were serving their country would still enjoy a wonderful holiday meal. If she could she would have fed the world.
In her younger years Helen had the “need for speed” whether it be riding a motorcycle or out-running police in her hometown of Bernalillo NM or dodging snow banks in Michigan. She loved cruising in her Mark IV and would drive for miles for a favorite meal like Fried Chicken.
Children were drawn to Helen and over the years she took many of them in and helped them through difficult times. She touched the lives of so many people over the years that we are sure that she is in a special place in Heaven.
Helen in Peter will be interned at the Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista following full military honors. Final arrangements are pending.
She is and will continue to be missed!
