Jesus Alberto Martinez

In loving memory of our father, Jesus Alberto “Tito” Martinez from Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, who passed away on April 15, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. He was a loving and caring father to Daniela Martinez and Laura Cristina Corso, and a devoted husband to Alejandra Martinez Mercado for over 20 years.

In his youth, he refereed and played basketball with his older brothers in the Nogales league in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was passionate about basketball and being part of the team. He liked to party and have a good time with his friends and family. He was often the life of the party, and many can attest to that.

In the early 1980s, he married Alejandra Mercado, and had their first daughter, Laura Cristina Martinez. He worked hard to support his family, and in the late 80s, he became a certified electrician and welcomed his second daughter, Daniela Martinez. During this time, Jesus immigrated to the United States in hopes for a better future for him and his family. He became part of the Flowing Wells and Amphitheater school district and eventually retired at the age of 63. He spent his time traveling with his daughter Daniela and her fiancé Joseph Catalano as well as taking care of his grandson, Danny Catalano. He also enjoyed spending time in Nogales with his daughter Laura and her husband Joseph Corso.

Jesus has now joined, in heaven, his parents, Gabriel and Mercedes Martinez, his brothers, Rodolfo and Ramon Martinez Tapia, his first grandson, Nico Catalano, and many other beloved friends, family, and pets. He will truly be missed by those who had the pleasure to have met the hardworking, cheerful, and supporting man he was.

There will be a funeral service for Jesus on May 10, 2024, from 1 pm-4 pm, with a Rosary ceremony at 2 pm at Angel Valley Funeral Home – 2545 N Tucson Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85716.

Right after the funeral service, there will be a celebration of life for Jesus at 811 E Wetmore Rd, Tucson, AZ 85719. Please join us for food and drinks as we honor Jesus.
