Louis Rossi
May 20, 1918 — Feb 18, 2017
Louis Richard Rossi passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 98 years old. He was preceded in death by his brother, Angelo, and wife Barbara Jane Rossi. He is survived by his two children Madeline and Christopher, and his grandchildren Mireya and Sofia.
Louis delighted in teaching language and literature at every phase of his long career as a professor, beginning at Northwestern University in 1955 then for 22 years at the University of Wisconsin Department of French and Italian. His aptitude with language was honed during WWII, where he served as a frontline artillery officer, and later with the military government. After retirement he composed poetry and enjoyed mountain walks near his Prescott home with his wife Jane, and visits from his young granddaughters.
