Marilyn Swan
May 8, 1937 — Jan 20, 2018
Swan, Marilyn Kay of Tucson, Arizona, passed away January 20, 2018. Born May 8, 1937 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Jeanette (Cobb) and Donald Swan. Arriving in Tucson in 1960, she fell in love with the desert, spending most of her adult life in Southern Arizona, including Sierra Vista where she taught at Buena High School. A US Army Veteran, and lover of anything chocolate, Marilyn was a fiercely independent and adventurous spirit, and was happiest when enjoying the outdoors, soaking up the sun, and in earlier years enjoyed cooking, gardening, hiking, horseback riding, camping and exploring the Huachuca mountains in Cochise County with her best friend Val. Preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Patrick, Sue, Leanne, and Cliff, and nephew Patrick Jr., all of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and ex-husband Ronald G. Bresnahan of Sierra Vista, Arizona. Marilyn is survived by daughters, Tamara (Rondell) Wilson, Kathryn (Robert) Durban, and Patricia (Derek) Nations, all of Tucson. She is also survived by her sister Denise (Steve) Rector of Sand Lake, Michigan, the last of her five siblings. Nana Swan will also be greatly missed by grandchildren Adam, Kim, Taylor, Grant, Ryan, and great grandchildren Kyan, Korbin, and Kolsten. There will be a private family gathering to honor her memory.
