Matildo Vergara-Rodriguez

Matildo Vergara-Rodríguez, 87, was called to his heavenly home on November 18, 2018. His love and devotion to his family and, his faith in God defined his life. Matildo was born to a farming family, in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico (US terrirtory), on March 22, 1931. He started working alongside his parents, at an early age (while attending school), to contribute support to the family household. He was intelligent, ambitious and hardworking; always willing and able to learn new skills. In the early 1950’s he migrated to the US mainland in pursuit of “the American dream” and to help his parents and younger siblings. He married in 1958 and had two children. He instilled in them the importance of pursuing an education, becoming professionals; having high work ethics and respect for everyone and the love for our country- USA. Matildo is dearly missed by his loves ones who celebrate the fact that he is enjoying wholeness and peace in the presence of Our Lord. He is survived by his wife, Ramona; his daughter Betsy Murray and son-in-law Conrad; his son Eric Vergara and daughter-in-law Griscelda; his five granddaughters (all sisters and, in his golden years, were all “the apple of his eyes”): Ashley, Dámaris, Erica, Gisselle and Janessa Vergara; his extended family from both the Vergara-Rodríguez and Rivera-Carvajal sides. Matildo will be viewed on November 30, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Angel Valley Funeral Home 2545 N. Tucson Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716. On that same day he will be buried in the early afternoon.
