Cathy Pierson (1948-2026)

A beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who loved life, gardening, music and her family. Cathy Ann Pierson, 78 years old, of Sidney, Nebraska, passed away on September 2, 2026 in Golden, Colorado.

Cathy was born in Sidney, Nebraska on August 15, 1948 to Kenneth and Lorraine Benzel. Cathy grew up on the family farm and where she helped raise her four younger siblings. Cathy attended Sidney High School, and then later worked at the Chamber of Commerce before moving to Colorado. Cathy was passionate about her finance career with Coors Brewery. Working with the company for 28 years, she loved all the life-long relationships she made there. During her time with Coors, she also attended Denver University.

In 1970, Cathy reconnected with Richard, the love of her life in Denver, Colorado. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in Lakewood, Colorado in 1972. Cathy and Ric couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. Jennifer and Jamie loved growing up in Golden, Colorado, and going on all the road trips and vacations over the years.

Although she loved playing the piano, gardening, and her road trips, Cathy’s favorite role was that of Grandma. She treasured her time with Allie, Bailey and Leah, never failing at holiday baking, dress up, and cuddle time.

Cathy was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, devoting her time and energy as Chairman of the Board and financial secretary for many years.

Cathy will always be remembered for her unconditional love of her family and friends, and how strong and independent she was. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, parent, or grandparent, and will miss her everyday. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew her.

Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church; 5675 Field St, Arvada, CO 80002. A live stream of this service will be available here. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in name to Peace Lutheran Church Organ Replacement Fund.
