Charles Wayne Jones, known as Wayne, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and proud member of the Cherokee Nation, passed away at the age of 78 on Friday, May 29, 2026, at his home with his family at his side. Born in Blytheville, Arkansas, on November 21, 1947, Charles moved with his family to Colorado at the tender age of five, where they sought better opportunities. He started his family in Northglenn, driving RTD buses for many years before retiring in Weldona, Colorado. Where he then drove an activity bus for the Wiggins School District.

A man of great patriotism, Charles served his country with distinction in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, being stationed with the beach jumper unit in San Diego. During his service, he demonstrated remarkable bravery by saving a life, receiving an award for pulling a person out of a burning car.

Charles shared a long and loving marriage with Karen (Clausen) Jones, whom he wed on November 4, 1982. Together, they built a life rich with family and love. He was a devoted father to his sons, Dean (Maria) Thompson, Shane (Hollie) Thompson, Cody (Brianna) Jones, and Kele (Valentyme) Jones. His legacy extends to his 17 grandchildren: Deidree, Brody, Abby, Chloe, River, Wyatt, Blake, Brye, Carson, Carter, Easton, Paisley, Cayden, Asher, Isabella, Emery, and Everleigh; and his three great-grandchildren: Felix, Violet, and Braxton.

Charles was also a beloved brother to Sue (Jack) Mohr and Rhonda (Rick) Garcia, and he leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Lucille (Reed) Jones and James Alonzo Jones, affectionately known as Buddy.

A man of many passions, Charles had a love for horses, fishing, and hunting. He had a passion for meeting people and would help those in need. He loved his canine companions, Tucker and Karson, among others.

Charles enjoyed karaoke and frequently delighted audiences with his rendition of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia."

Charles Wayne Jones will be remembered for his service, his passions, and the deep love he had for his family. His stories, humor, and spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
