Larry Robert Draper
Dec 20, 1949 — Sep 30, 2026
In Loving Memory of Larry Robert Draper
Larry Robert Draper, lovingly known as Papa, was born December 20, 1949, in Colorado, where he was born and raised. He passed away September 30, 2026.
Larry attended Lakewood High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Dianne, who attended Golden High School. Together, they built a life and family filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He worked at Goltra Castings for more than 40 years, eventually becoming a manager, and proudly volunteered with the fire department for 20 years.
Larry's greatest joy was his family. He was the father of Michael Draper and Cheryl Wyckoff, both of whom preceded him in death. His beloved wife, Dianne, passed away three years before him. He is survived by his grandchildren, Hunter Wyckoff and Rylee Wyckoff, and great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Eleanor, and Theodore Wyckoff.
Papa loved camping, fishing, the outdoors, movies, Dairy Queen, and most of all, spending time with his family. He never missed an opportunity to show up for the people he loved, whether it was attending sports, celebrating milestones, or simply being together. Holidays were especially meaningful. Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter were filled with traditions and the kind of love that made childhood magical. One Christmas Eve, Papa climbed onto the roof with sleigh bells, pretending to be Santa so the kids would believe Santa was there and finally go to bed. It was a memory that captured exactly who he was—someone who would go above and beyond just to make his family smile. He and Nana made their childhood nothing less than magical.
Larry's strength and devotion were never more evident than during the final years of his life. He underwent dialysis for more than a year, showing the same strength and determination that had defined him throughout his life. He made sure his family was as prepared as possible for his passing, just as he had spent his entire life making sure they were cared for.
His family will always remember his mischievous spirit, his good heart, his devotion to Dianne, and the way he was always there when they needed him. They will also remember the little things, like the way he called his daughter Cheryl “Punkin,” and the countless moments that made him simply Papa.
Larry was the strongest man his family had ever known. He endured tremendous loss and hardship, yet he never stopped loving, giving, and showing up. He was a constant presence, a protector, a storyteller, and the heart of his family. His legacy lives on through the people he loved and the memories he created—especially the magical ones.
Papa, you showed us what it means to love your family no matter what. You made our childhood magical, you kept your promise, and you gave us a lifetime of memories we will cherish forever. We will carry your strength, your love, and your memory with us always. Rest peacefully, Papa. We love you forever.
