Linda Jean Schuyler

Dec 3, 1953 — Oct 10, 2026

Linda Jean Schuyler was born on December 3, 1953 to Lyndon and Eleanor Jean Knowles Schuyler. She grew up in Wells, New York, surrounded by many aunts, uncles, cousins and neighbors, and living in the Adirondacks created a lifetime love of the outdoors. She graduated from the Albany Medical Center School of Nursing in 1974 and moved to Colorado shortly after that. From 1978— 1996 she worked for several companies as an Occupation Health Nurse and she earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management from Metropolitan State College, a Master of Arts in Health Education from the University of Northern Colorado, as welt as certifications in Occupational Health, Poison Information, and Palliative Care. From 1991 to her retirement in 2016, she worked for Kaiser Permanente in the ER, pulmonology and oncology departments, as a health education specialist, and as a palliative care specialist.

She was also active in many professional organizations including the Hospice and Palliative Care N urses Association, the Colorado Nurses' Foundation and the Association of Occupational Health Nurses. She was also active in her church. At University Park Methodist she served on many committees, taught Sunday School and participated in medical mission trips to Guatemala, an activity which provided many memorable experiences.

Because her biological family was in New York, her Colorado friends became her family. She always kept in touch with nursing school friends as well, and she made friends wherever she worked or volunteered. She loved socializing with them, traveling with them, and above all, helping and supporting them whenever needed. She thrived on being outdoors and she walked whenever that was possible. She was also an avid reader from the time she was in elementary school, and she spent quiet evenings at home reading, with her beloved cats curled up beside her.

She is survived by cousins Sandy Jackson Guthinger, Jill Russum and her husband Dan, Jane Bowler and her husband Bill, Julie Ross, Phil Schuyler and his wife Kimberly, and many friends.

A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at 11 am at University Park United Methodist Church, 2180 S. University Blvd, Denver CO 80210
