Martha Joanne Netz
Jo Netz, 94, passed away on the 15th of August 2026. Her memorial service will be held Thursday, September 17 at 10:00AM at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 1390 Brentwood Street, Lakewood, CO 80214.
Jo and her twin sister, Jeanne, were born in a log cabin near Hamilton, Colorado to Marion and Lila Osborn. She grew up on ranches near Pagoda and Hamilton and attended Moffat County High School in Craig. She graduated from Colorado A & M (now CSU) with a degree in Physical Education and then enlisted in the US Army’s Physical Therapy program run by Baylor University. Jo was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Walter Reed and Fitzsimmons Army Hospitals where she provided PT for Korean War veterans, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant.
While at Fort Sam Houston, she met Howard Netz, also from Colorado. They married in 1956 in Denver. Howard was a pharmacist and Jo worked as a PT at Children’s and St Anthony’s Hospitals. She and Howard raised two children, David and Jill, while she worked, Howard worked, and he attended CU Medical School on the GI Bill. Upon completion of Howard’s residency, Jo joined his practice as his office manager and continued to work as a PT. They worked together for over 30 years, providing care to multiple generations of patients. Jo also became a certified EMT to assist with this.
Jo was a very friendly, happy and active person. She loved golf (two holes-in-one), sewing and crafts with her friends and 4-H students, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Jo is survived by her daughter Jill, Jill’s life-partner Frank, her son David, daughter-in-law Nancy, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Larry Osborn and his wife Reta. She was preceded in death by her husband Howard and her siblings, Patty Nicodemus, Jeanne Durham and Charles Osborn.
