Michael Allan Lynam

        Michael Allan Lynam, 76, of Golden, Colorado passed away on August 16th, after a courageous battle against an aggressive cancer. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his family. 

Born on December 28th, 1948 to Robert and Estella in Oak Park, Illinois. As a young man, Mike was up for the draft and joined the U.S Air Force. They sent him to Colorado where he quickly fell in love with the state. His time in the Air Force took him all around the world, instilling a wanderlust in him that didn’t wane until middle age. He became a Crew Chief, overseeing the maintenance and repair of F4 Phantom jets. After service, Mike moved back to Colorado and obtained his degree from the University of Colorado. He landed a career in the oil industry, going on to do gravitational testing around the world. He’d go on to tell his sons of several adventures from these days, from fleeing the rise of dictators in the Middle East, to flying a Northern Canadian plane covered in ice, to visiting a Dubai with no buildings taller than 3 stories.

He was still drawn to Colorado and took his skills to a company in Lakewood, where he met his beloved wife of 42 years, Sandra. The two settled down and got married, soon having their first son, Daniel. 5 years later their second son, Kevin, arrived. During this time Michael settled down in Golden, Colorado quickly making many lifelong friends. He switched careers to computer programming, working in this field until retirement. Throughout his life Michael maintained a fascination with the jets he worked with in his youth, several times reconnecting with old air force buddies and visiting the large yards where the remaining fuselages lay.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Estella, his Sister Martha, several close friends and many beloved pets. He is survived by his wife Sandra, his sons Danny and Kevin, and other beloved family and friends. He was a good man and is already sorely missed.
