William Grant Sikes Jr.

Born in Lanett, Alabama in 1935, Chaplain Colonel (Ret.) William G. Sikes, Jr. died

September 17, 2026 in Golden, Colorado. He was an ordained minister of the Christian

Church (Disciples of Christ). He graduated from East Tennessee State University; Brite

Divinity School at TCU; and the Institute of Religion at Texas Medical Center (MD

Anderson Hospital). His civilian pastorates were in Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, and

Colorado. He was an Air Force Chaplain for 24 years, including assignments as

Hospital Chaplain, Clark AB, Philippines during the return of POWs from Viet Nam;

Director of Chaplain Readiness, Headquarters TAC, Langley AFB; and Base/Wing

Chaplain, Keesler AFB. He was a member of South Broadway Christian Church in

Denver, Colorado. Inurnment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.

Chaplain Colonel (Ret.) Sikes was predeceased by his son, William G. Sikes III, US

Army MSgt (Ret.). He is survived by his daughter, Anne Perschbacher (Scott);

daughter-in-law Hyona Sikes; sisters Nancy Jacobus (Tom) and Mary E. (Gina) Quarles;

four grandchildren and one great-grandchild
