Dixie Jean Wood

Dixie Jean Wood, age 100, of Cloquet, MN passed away peacefully Friday, May 15 2026, at Interfaith Care Center in Carlton, MN.

Dixie was born September 20, 1925, in Waterloo, IA, to Clarence and Margaret (Williams) Schake. She married Wayne Harlan Wood on November 7, 1942, and together raised 5 children.

Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, 1 daughter, 3 sons, 1 son-in-law, 1 grandson, and 1 great-great-grandson, her parents, and 12 siblings. She is survived by her daughter Bev (Kevin) Mangan, daughters-in-law Linda and Beth, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren with another due any day and 1 due in August. She is also survived by 1 brother, Armond Schake, 1 sister-in-law, Jean Wood, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend special thank you to the great staff at the Interfaith Care Center and St. Croix Hospice.

Celebration of life for Dixie will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 30, 2025, with a time for visitation one hour before the service. Luncheon to Follow the service. Private family interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Cloquet, MN.
