Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Olson
May 19, 1941 — Oct 10, 2026
Elizabeth Jean Olson, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at New Perspective Senior Living in Cloquet, Minnesota. Betty, as she was known to her friends, was born in Cloquet on May 19, 1941, the youngest of three children born to Arthur and Viola “Bing” (Boyer) Olson. She grew up in Superior, Wisconsin, where she attended St. Louis Catholic School, Cathedral School, and Central High School.
Betty was a loving mother and homemaker who devoted herself to raising her children. Later in life, she returned to school to earn her CNA certification and went on to work as a nursing assistant at Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet. With her caring nature, she often cared for both newborns and the elderly, bringing kindness and compassion to those who needed it.
After retiring, Betty enjoyed crafting and tending to her flower gardens. She collected “Betty Boop” memorabilia and was often affectionately known by that nickname. She also had a special love for animals and cared for many throughout her life. Betty had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. This was especially evident in the love and support she gave her grandchildren as they were growing up. She was also an excellent cook who loved hosting holiday and birthday dinners in her home, bringing family together around the table.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Louise (William) Dalager; and her brother, William Olson. She is survived by her beloved children, Sue Oswald of Cloquet, Minnesota, and Joe (Tammy) Stueber of Esko, Minnesota; grandchildren Tony (Melissa) Janke, Mandie (Tyler Kreitz) Janke, Samantha Stueber, and Sarah Stueber; great-grandchildren Jasmine and Cadence; and great-great-granddaughter, Jazlyn.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the management and staff of New Perspective Senior Living in Cloquet and St. Croix Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion.
