Lorraine Ruby Aldrin

Lorraine Ruby Aldrin, 89 of Moose Lake passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019 in her daughter's home in Kerrick. She was born April 21, 1930 on the Sand Lake family farm just south of Moose Lake to Raymond and Vivian Nelson. As a teen, Lorraine enjoyed dancing, playing piano and roller skating. While in high school she worked at the Moose Lake Star Gazette. She graduated from Moose Lake High School in 1948. She married Patrick Williams from Sturgeon Lake. After their marriage, they moved to the Carlton area where they logged, farmed, and started a family while Lorraine worked part time at the Carlton Nursing Home. Lorraine and Pat separated in the late 1950's. Lorraine went back to school and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for Dr. Moe at Moose Lake Community Hospital. In 1959, she married Gordon Aldrin and moved to the farm south of Barnum on Big Hanging Horn Lake where they were soon blessed with three more children. While Gordy worked at the oil refinery in Wrenshall, Lorraine worked as a homemaker, farmer, Cub Scout leader, and ran a rural delivery Sunday Newspaper route. After her children left home, she worked at Mercy Hospital as an LPN and an EMT on the Moose Lake Ambulance crew. She later took employment at the Moose Lake Regional Treatment Center and eventually retired from there in 1996. Her main hobbies revolved around her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her field of blueberries which she planted over 30 years ago. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Aldrin; sister, Charlene Joynes; brother, Curtis Nelson; and sons, Gary and Kim Williams. Lorraine is survived by her children, Kevin (Florence) Williams, Lynn Williams, Steve (Lynn) Aldrin, Jeff (Tammi) Aldrin, and Lori (Kevin Lammi) Aldrin; daughter-in-law, Ardis Williams; brother, Guyal (Punky) Nelson; 15 grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019 in the Barnum Community Church. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Barnum. Arrangements entrusted to Atkins Northland Funeral Home, Cloquet.
