Claire Lorraine Dougherty

Claire Lorraine Dougherty (Staples), passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the Autumn House in Viera, FL. Born and raised in Newark N.J., Claire was a long-time resident of Belleville NJ. Claire was the last survivor of a family of 8 children who lost their parents at a young age. The siblings struggled as a family through many hardships but were able to raise all eight together and build a large close-knit legacy. Ms. Dougherty worked for and retired from the New Jersey Institute of Technology Enterprise Development Center. She was also an active member of the Vincent United Methodist Church in Nutley. Claire was predeceased by her parents, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers. Surviving are sons: John (Janice), Philip (Pina), and William, grandchildren Casey Jasnic (Dalibor), Timothy, Erin, Jesse (Nathalie), and Brent, great grandchildren; Danilo, Luka, Aria, Téa, and Madelyn. Claire is survived by a host of wonderful nieces and nephews and had many special relationships with them. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Autumn House for all their care which was outstanding in the care of our mother. Care is entrusted to the Atlantic Mortuary & Cremation, Rockledge FL.
