Frank Merlino

Frank B. Merlino, 87 passed peacefully in his sleep on February 3, 2016 after a two month illness. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he resided there until his retirement to Las Vegas at age 63. He then relocated to FL at age 75. His career was Insurance Sales for two major firms. Frank is survived by children, Kathryne (Bill) Leach and Angela (Gary) Johnson, a brother, Mike (Theresa) Merlino, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Italian immigrant parents, six siblings and one son. Frank loved to tell jokes. One of his favorite to medical professionals who asked his age: “I would have been two years older had I not been sick.” Mr. Merlino was a veteran of the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Grouper. As a Radioman Third Class, he earned the WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. A memorial service will be held in the near future at the newly built Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida.
