John Mest

John M. Mest, of Cocoa passed away on December 5, 2013. Born in Swatara Station, PA he was the son of the late Lawrence and Lydia Mest. In 1950, he married Miriam Ryder. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary in September. Before moving to Florida ten years ago, he resided in Mt. Bethel, PA. John was a graduate of Penn State University and spent his life as a skilled craftsman, working in the wood working industry until his retirement. John enjoyed bowling with his wife and many friends at Shore Lanes. He was a member of the Cocoa Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, John is survived by a son Craig and his companion Sally of Cocoa, a son John and his wife Elaine, of Bangor PA, and a daughter Jan Dalton and her husband Scott, also of Bangor PA. He has five grandchildren, David Mest, Jonathon Hubert, and Meaghan, Shane, and Kristi Dalton. Sisters Jean Brenizer and Betty Bowers both preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held on Thursday December 12, 2:00 PM at the Cocoa Presbyterian Church on Dixon Blvd. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Brevard County Meals on Wheels program.
