Sally Jo Willingham Turner

Sally Jo Willingham Turner, age 90, passed peacefully on March 10, 2026, in Rockledge, Florida. Born on July 27, 1935, in Ohatchee, Alabama, Sally spent her early years surrounded by family and the values that would shape her life. It was there, at the age of 16, that she met the love of her life, Jerry Lee Turner. They were married on May 29, 1953, beginning a lifelong journey of love and devotion. Their early years of marriage were spent in Alabama before relocating to Titusville, Florida, where they continued to build their life together. Later, they moved to Garland, Texas, where they continued their life together surrounded by family and friends. After their years in Texas, they returned to Florida, where they retired in Rockledge.

Sally was a woman of strong Christian faith. She faithfully served in various roles within her church communities, including teaching children’s Sunday school, leaving a lasting spiritual impact on many lives. She was also a proud and joyful member of the Red Hat Society, beginning her involvement in Texas and continuing it upon their return to Florida, where she served as a Queen, bringing laughter, friendship, and vibrant spirit to all who knew her.Sally had many creative gifts and passions. She was a talented painter and artist and found great joy in baking and creating for others. She expressed love through her creativity, whether through art, food, or the beauty she brought into everyday life. Sally also had a love of travel and adventure, enjoying many trips throughout her life, including memorable travels abroad that brought her joy, inspiration, and cherished experiences.

Sally often said, “I’m blessed. I’ve had a good life.”

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Lee Turner; her daughter, Teresa Turner Rhodes; and her parents, John Thomas and Chester Alma Willingham.She is lovingly survived by her son, Terry Joe Turner; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard Talmadge and Betty Willingham; and her nieces and nephews: Terri Michelle Willingham (Bob) Thurmond, Carol (Gary) Vey, Tammy (George) Gressett, Sean (Cassidy) Osborne,Cathy (Mike) Herb, Dedra Justice, Lisa (John) Lassig, Vea Lynn Ford-Townsend, Leland Turner as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Sally will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering faith, her love of family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.

A Private Family viewing will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Sally will be laid to rest, with Jerry, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. Officiated by Pastor Richard Fuller of First Baptist Church of Merritt Island
