Austin Karl Jones (aka AJ) passed unexpectedly on July 23, 2026.
AJ was born in Syracuse NY on August 30, 1992, he is survived by his parents, Kevin Jones of LaFayette NY, and his mother Gené Maine of Syracuse NY, his older brother Evan Jones, of SC, and his younger brother Alex (Alyssia) Jones of Tully, NY. His nephews Damon and Onyx, and his niece Alana. His nephews and niece were the joy of his life. His girlfriend Janine Johnson, of LaFayette NY, his Uncle Brian Jones of Colton, NY, his Aunt Michelle (David) Everding, of Fayetteville, NY, and his Uncle Jeff (Chris) Maine, of West Winfield, NY. His cousins Mac, Hailey, Ryan, Collin and Ethan.
He was pre deceased by his grandparents, Mark and Patricia Jones of Colton, NY and Karl Maine and Sylvia Snyder. His sister, Kendra Jones (AJ's Irish Twin) passed away in June of 2022.
AJ's love for family and friends was unmatched, he was always the guy who had your back. His smile always brought a smile to others in return.
As a youth, AJ's passions were football and snow skiing which lead to working for four years at Song Mountain. After college he went to work at a variety of call centers and eventually moved to Charleston, SC and worked security for a number of establishments. In the summer of 2024 he returned home to the enthusiastic greeting of not only his family and friends, but his loving dog Daisy .His only real sports passion was the Dallas Cowboys and became a very good dart player competing in numerous leagues, but he did really enjoy the Montreal Canadians 2026 playoff run with his friends.
Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, August 4th, at Ballweg and Lunsford Funeral Home in LaFayette NY, from 1-3 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at 3pm, at the funeral home. A celebration of life will follow at 3:30 pm at The LaFayette Inn, in LaFayette NY.
