Doris L. Burghardt

Doris”Dot” Burghardt took her last ride into the sunset on Sunday September 27th at the age of 102. Together, with her late husband of 65 years, Arthur, they owned Scenic Valley Riding Stables in Cardiff, NY. Many memories were made on the trail rides during the summer and the sleigh rides in the winter. Dot was a registered nurse at Loretto Health center for many years and served the community faithfully and dutifully, always putting other's needs before her own. Her love for horses nearly rivaled her love of family. She led the Scenic Valley 4-H club for many years and helped them win many blue ribbons.

She was predeceased by her husband Arthur, her daughters Kathy (Laverne) Doctor and Susie (Bruce) Lande.

She leaves behind a legacy with her daughters, Dotti Anderson and Jill (Russ) George, her son, Jack Burghardt, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and very recently, great-great grandchild.

Calling hours will be on October 7th from 4-7 PM at Ballweg and Lunsford Funeral Home, 2584 Field Lane in Lafayette, NY.

Funeral services will be on October 8th at 11AM at the Church of the Nativity at Immaculate Conception, 7386 Academy St., Pompey, NY.

Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery following funeral services.

In honor of her passion, and her personality, feel free to wear cowboy hats, boots, buckles and any other western wear to both calling hours and funeral services.
