It is with Heavy Hearts the Family of Mary Susan Morrison shares her passing at the age of 69 on July 4th, 2026 at her home in Cortland,NY.
She was born on April 8th, 1957 in Syracuse,NY to Francis & Alice Murdent, growing up in Cuyler,NY.
Mary is predeceased by her Parents; Francis & Alice Murdent, her Brother’s; Ceylon & Francis Jr. Murdent, her Sister; Kathryn Sabin, 2nd Husband; Michael Bradish, 3rd Husband; Grant Morrison, Granddaughter; Sierra Lexus Hale & Great Grandson; Brandon James Little Jr.
She is survived by her Children; Hollie (Hassan) Phillips & Jeremie (Erica) Hale, Grandchildren; Mandie Galvin, Blaik Hale (with Great Grandchildren; Ashton James, Bentley Michael & Oakley Marie), Antonia Hale & Jeremie Hale Jr. (with Great Grandson; Chandler Layne) & her many beloved Nieces & Nephews.
Mary was proud of her Native American Lineage. She was a Fabius-Pompey Falcon Graduate from the Class of 1975. She studied at Tompkins Community College majoring in Business. She later attended the Cortland B.O.C.E.S. Nursing Program.
Mary was a Nurse for 28yrs. at the Cortland Regional Medical Center before it became Guthrie. She was a Wellness Coordinator at the Liberty Commons Assisted Living Center connected to the Regional Medical Center where she oversaw the Elderly short & long term patients while also running the Alzheimer’s Unit. There she oversaw Patients & Staff. She had a profound & unforgettable impact on the patients & their families while also on co-workers & staff. She had always strived to be an RN. She retired in June of 2019 as an L.P.N.
Mary’s final place to call home was that of Cortland,NY on 42 Church Street where she became part of a community, making many new friends & rekindling with some old ones. She took on the role of Vice President on the Residents Association. She loved music, cooking & baking. All round having a good time with friends & family. She was kind hearted & giving to all those she crossed paths with. Christmas was her favorite holiday & reflected the big heart she had.
In Memory of Mary Susan “Hootsie” Morrison she asked that donations from Friends & Family be made to the Cortland SPCA.
She will be greatly missed & forever hold a place in our hearts.
