Thomas L. Murfitt

It is with heavy hearts and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of Thomas Leeb Murfitt, 87, of LaFayette, NY. He passed peacefully at home. He was born in Syracuse, NY, to Thomas O. and Caroline Murfitt.

Tom was a NYS Trooper for 26 years. He retired as an Investigator. He then opened his own private investigation business. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Tom loved working with his hands and was an accomplished woodworker and craftsman. He took great joy in working on classic cars, boats and cherished handmade gifts. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying many hours hunting, fishing and boating in Upstate New York. Tom will most especially be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and love for his family, especially Gail, his wife of 63 years.

Tom is survived by his wife Gail Murfitt of LaFayette, NY; three children, Kristie (Jeffrey) Baird of Sarasota, FL; Thomas (Julie) Murfitt of LaFayette, NY; and Todd Murfitt of LaFayette, NY; six grandchildren, and four (soon to be five) great grandchildren.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
