John R. Shenandoah, 55, of the Onondaga Nation, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at home. He was born on November 29, 1970 to Raymond Shenandoah and Kathy Thomas. John graduated from LaFayette High School and attended OCC majoring in art. He was employed by the Onondaga Nation in the smoke shop and as security. John’s passion was music. He was the lead singer of Johnny Ray and the Stone Throwers and was a talented artist.
He is predeceased by, his father, Raymond and 2 brothers, Kas and Jordan.
John is survived by, his mother, Kathy Thomas, brothers, Raymond and Clayton (jean) Shenandoah, sisters, Anna and Mickey Shenandoah, son, Sean Shenandoah, daughters, Misti, Leigh Ann, Raelyn, Haley Jo and Cassidy Shenandoah, four grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and really great friends.
Services will be at Ballweg and Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse from 1PM to 3PM.
Burial will be in the Onondaga Nation Longhouse Cemetery.
