Michael E. Kozlowski
Nov 3, 1947 — Oct 5, 2026
Michael Edwin Kozlowski passed October 5, 2026. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Sherry (Oberle) Kozlowski; his three children, Jennifer (Benjamin) George, Daniel (Jessica) Kozlowski, and David Kozlowski; and his grandchildren, Andrew, Mikayla, Samantha, Hannah, Everett, and Easton.
Mike served his country during the Vietnam War as a serviceman for the U.S. Navy, where he spent most of his time working radar on the USS Independence.
He served his time after being a proud graduate of the 1965 Onondaga Valley Academy High School in Syracuse, New York.
After completing his service, he went on to earn several degrees in civil engineering and management at Syracuse University. With his degrees, he was able to provide for his loving family and lived a fulfilling life.
He was a lover of nature and animals his entire life, along with music, reading, fishing, and may have watched every episode of David Letterman. He was an early riser, an avid reader, a proud fan of Syracuse Orange Athletics and believed in the importance of athletics along with education.
He was a water safety instructor, lifeguard, and teaching assistant for the City of Syracuse after retiring from engineering. He enjoyed frisbee, basketball, BBQ, fishing, long walks and bicycle rides. He loved to swim in the ocean and would sometimes be called in from beach guards at Daytona.
A longtime member of the YMCA of Syracuse, he won several medals at the Empire State Games in swimming. He taught his children to see things from other people's perspectives, how to tie fishing knots, to appreciate nature, how to body surf, and to enjoy life.
He loved to laugh and will be missed.
